Last year's fires changed the experience for those who were allowed in August to run the main fork of the Salmon River in Idaho.The 82 mile stretch from Corn Creek to Carey Creek is known for its big water and Class III and IV rapids. Permits are required from June to September. Guided trips are also available from commercial outfitters.
